It is an issue that families face on a daily basis in Georgia and across the country. Finding that a loved one needs a wheelchair, walker, bedside commode, or some other medical device and not having the funds to purchase good equipment. Back in the 1980s, this was a problem just as it is now. A man with a plan founded FODAC with the vision of gathering used durable medical equipment (DME), refurbishing it, cleaning it, and giving it to those who needed it. FODAC has been serving Georgia ever since. FODAC also sends thousands of pounds of DME and other medical supplies overseas. Several containers have been shipped to Ukraine in 2022. They also send supplies to disaster areas in the United States.

FODAC is probably best known for providing DME, such as:

  • Wheelchairs (manual and power)
  • Standers
  • Strollers
  • Corner chairs
  • Gait trainers
  • Shower supports
  • Canes
  • Walkers
  • Hoyer lifts
  • Hospital beds

It should be noted that FODAC has a state-of-the-art sanitization process, so any used equipment is probably cleaner than brand-new!

But it’s not just DME; FODAC has many generous donors who give chucks, depends, and all sorts of medical supplies. Many of these supplies are in high demand overseas and in the United States after a natural disaster.

Of course, FODAC depends on volunteers and donors. If you have any items in good condition that you need out of your house, FODAC will come pick them up for you! And if you have time to volunteer, you will be blessed. It really is a great place with a great mission. In fact, it was our FPC team volunteering at FODAC last month that were so impressed with the 65,000 square foot warehouse (filled to the brim with all kinds of great medical equipment) and the people at FODAC that we wanted to help spread the word about this great resource. Anyone who needs any kind of medical equipment should contact FODAC! You can also call FODAC at 770-491-9014.

If you’re in the Stone Mountain area, be sure to check out the thrift store. Lots of great household items of all kinds. Some of our fellow volunteers didn’t escape without buying a few treasures for themselves! The address is 4900 Lewis Road, Stone Mountain, GA 30083.
