Ethics Extravaganza
Ethics, ethics and more ethics are in store for you in these engaging, entertaining and thought- provoking presentations. Jason Lesandrini, Medical Ethicist at Wellstar Health System and Adjunct Faculty at Mercer University will begin by “Paging Dr. Seuss” – reviewing critical lessons we can learn from WhoVille Hospital regarding communication problems. From there, Mr. Lesandrini will review ethical issues around conflict resolution in a professional environment. As providers – oftentimes, we are called upon to be the bearer of bad news to many different people which can result in conflict and tense moments. This portion of the presentation will focus on conflict resolution in complex situations. Finally, he will close out the day by looking at Moral Distress and “Ethics Narrative Therapy” – using writing as a practical solution to a challenging ethical problem. Mr. Lesandrini will guide us through a discussion of how we can use narratives to work through some of the ethical dilemmas we face. After attending this event, you will leave refreshed with a new perspective on ethics.
