Good Grief: Understanding Grief and Resources for Coping Effectively

The experience of grief is a natural part of life, and many have experienced this watershed moment more than once. Few individuals are equipped to navigate the process of grief with ease; many struggle against the waves of emotions that accompany each new stage. Grief is a complex emotion that can affect us physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. In this informative presentation Rev. Jeana Fortenberry, Chaplain; and/or John Butler, BA, MS, of Family Private Care will discuss all the different aspects of grief including the different types/causes of grief, and the different manifestations of grief. In addition, attendees will explore the cultural/spiritual impacts on grief and the importance of childhood grief. Lastly, effective coping techniques will be discussed and practiced. By the end of this presentation, attendees will walk away with an increased knowledge of grief and its affects, in addition to a set of effective techniques and skills which can be used to help their patients and clients cope with grief.
